TAG
INT. MAIN ROOM - NIGHT
Very late. Empty. Everyone's gone home, including STAFF.
NICK and HILLARY make their way behind bar, where SID stands.
HILLARY
Sid and I were talking about the
three of us being partners -- but
Sid, you said it best.
SID
I did?
HILLARY
Y'know, about the three men in a
boat...
SID
Uh-huh.
HILLARY
One of them has the oars...
SID
No, it was a sailboat. Hoisting
the sails --
HILLARY
Oh, yes, yes, that's right. There
were three of us. I was port --
(points to SID)
You were starboard -- And Nick was
-
NICK
Shoving off.
(starts to go)
HILLARY
No, wait. What I want to say is, I
know we've made a lot of
alterations, but the heart of
Tattinger's remains the same. You.
SID
So...
(reaches above bar, takes
down framed photograph)
HILLARY
And...
In its place, HILLARY hangs up framed Tattinger's original
dollar.
HILLARY (CONT.)
There. Now everything's back where
it belongs.
NICK smiles at HILLARY.
SID
G'night, you two.
(exits)
NICK
What'd'ya say we head up to my
place for a nightcap.
HILLARY
No. I don't want to go all the way
down-town at this hour.
NICK
You forget. I live upstairs...
(puts arm around her)
HILLARY
Nick, we're not going to start that
again.
(takes his arms off)
NICK
The changes you made are
tremendous. Because of them, I see
you in a whole new light.
HILLARY
That doesn't mean you also get to
see me in the dark.
NICK
Fair enough. Ours is a business
relationship. I'll treat you
exactly the way I treat Sid.
HILLARY
Good.
He grabs her, kisses her, bending her below the bar. Beat.
HILLARY (O.C., CONT.)
Nick?
NICK (O.C.)
Uh-huh?
HILLARY (O.C.)
Doesn't Sid's moustache tickle?
On the empty bar,
FADE OUT.
